Tips for successful payments at Slack

  • AcceptedHave the Workspace Owner, or the member who upgraded the workspace, add the card. Billing contacts can see statements but cannot change payment details.
  • AcceptedUse a card with 16 digits and a CVV. Slack requires both.
  • AcceptedEnter the company address with the right postal code. Slack uses it to work out sales tax, which plan prices do not include.
  • AcceptedAllow for new members. Slack bills a prorated amount for anyone added partway through the billing period, at the end of the month on annual plans.

Why do Slack payments decline?

Bank verification for the purchase did not complete
Slack may ask you to verify a purchase with your bank. Try the payment again, or use a different payment card.
A renewal payment failed
Slack emails Workspace Owners and billing contacts after 7, 14 and 21 days. Update the payment method on the Billing page before day 28, when the workspace moves to the Free plan.
The charge was higher than the plan price
Slack adds sales tax from your company address and prorated charges for new members. Make sure the card covers the full amount, then update the payment method on the Billing page.

Slack payment FAQ

How do I pay for Slack?
Slack takes credit cards for monthly or annual billing. Eligible workspaces can also pay by bank debit (ACH) or Apple Pay, and larger workspaces on annual billing can pay by self-serve invoice. The Workspace Owner manages the payment method on the Billing page.
Can I pay for Slack with PayPal?
No. PayPal is not on Slack's supported payment methods list. Slack lists credit cards, bank debit (ACH), Apple Pay, SEPA Direct Debit for workspaces paying in euros, and self-serve invoices.
When does Slack charge my card?
Slack charges the card on the day you buy a paid plan, then on each monthly or annual renewal date. On an annual plan, members added during the year are billed on the last day of the month.
Can I pay for Slack by invoice?
Yes, if you pay annually, have at least 3 active members, and have at least 58 members on Pro or 28 on Business+. Slack's bank details are on the invoice, payment is due within 30 days, and a remittance fee applies. Choose Pay by invoice at checkout or on the Billing Details tab.
What is Slack's Fair Billing Policy?
You pay only for active members. When a paid member has not used Slack for over 28 days, or is deactivated, Slack adds a prorated credit to your account for future payments. The credits are not refundable and expire when the paid plan ends.
