AcceptedHalocard is accepted

Halocard is accepted at Google Ads. Google Ads accepts credit and debit cards with a Visa or Mastercard logo, including one-time use virtual credit cards, plus a verified bank account (direct debit). Prepaid cards are not accepted for postpay. Google charges the card each time your costs reach the payment threshold and again on the first day of the month, so expect several charges a month.

Create a card for Google Ads in Halocard

In your Halocard dashboard, create a new card, name it Google Ads and set a limit that covers what you are about to pay.

02

Add the card under Billing, then Settings

Open Settings in the Billing menu. Under Payment methods, select Add a payment method, then Add credit or debit card. Fill in the card details and select Save.

03

Make it the primary payment method

In the Payment methods section, open the Actions menu next to the new card and select Set as primary payment method. Google then charges it at each payment threshold and on the first of the month.

Tips for successful payments at Google Ads

  • AcceptedOn an Organization account type, you need Admin or Billing access to add or change a payment method.
  • AcceptedKeep a credit card saved as the backup payment method so ads keep running if the primary method fails. Google only allows credit cards as a backup.
  • AcceptedIf your spend is high, the payment threshold can trigger more than once a day. High-spend accounts can ask Google to raise the threshold so the card is charged less often.
  • AcceptedEnter the billing name and address exactly as they appear on your Halocard.

Why do Google Ads payments decline?

You've exceeded the card's credit limit or single transaction limit
Increase the card's spending limit so it covers the threshold charge. Then go to Billing, Settings, select the card, choose Fix it, then Retry and Pay Now.
You entered an incorrect card number or CVV/CVN number
Re-enter the card details carefully. Under Payment methods, select Fix it next to the card, correct the information and select Save updates.
The card expired
Enter a new card. Select Fix it next to the declined card, choose Use a different payment method, enter the new card details and select Save card, then Pay Now.
Your account is paused until you confirm your payment method
Only an admin user can clear this. Go to Admin, Policy, Account, start the Confirm your payment method task and select Get code. Google makes a temporary charge of no more than $1.95, and the last 6 digits of that charge are the code. Enter it and select Submit code.

Google Ads payment FAQ

Does Google Ads accept virtual cards?
Yes. Google's payment methods page says you can use a one-time use credit card, also known as a virtual credit card, as long as it has a Visa or Mastercard logo. Google adds that when the card expires or its credit limit is reached, you should generate another one and enter it in your account, or the payment could be declined.
How do I pay Google Ads?
Add a card under Settings in the Billing menu and set it as the primary payment method. You do not pay in advance: Google charges the card automatically after your ads run, each time costs reach the payment threshold and on the first day of the month. A verified bank account can be used the same way.
Can I pay Google Ads with PayPal?
Only if it is already linked. Google lists PayPal for accounts billed in dollars, but says PayPal is temporarily unavailable for new accounts on postpay and cannot be added to an existing account. Accounts that already have PayPal set up can keep using it.
What is the GOOGLE *ADS charge on my card?
Google Ads charges appear as GOOGLE *ADS followed by a 10-digit number, which is the Customer ID of the account that was billed. A charge is made whenever your spend reaches the payment threshold and on the first day of the month, so several charges in one month is normal. A pending amount identical to a processed charge is usually an authorization request that drops off within days.
Why was my Google Ads payment declined?
Google says your card issuer declines the payment, not Google. The Billing Summary page shows the date, amount and reason when one is available. Common reasons are a card or single transaction limit, an expired card, or a wrong card number or CVV. After fixing it, go to Billing, Settings, select the card and Fix it, then Retry and Pay Now.
