Create a card for Uber in Halocard
In your Halocard dashboard, create a new card, name it Uber and set a limit that covers what you are about to pay.

How to pay for Uber with Halocard

Add the card under Wallet, then Add Payment Method
In the Uber app, select Wallet from the menu and tap Add Payment Method. Type in the card number, then the expiry date, CVV and billing ZIP code, and tap Save.

Check the Halocard is selected before the ride ends
During a ride, swipe up from the bottom of the app and tap the Halocard. Uber charges the selected method when the ride ends.

Tips for successful payments at Uber
- AcceptedAdd the new card before you remove an old one. Uber keeps at least one payment method on every account, so a card cannot be deleted until another is saved.
- AcceptedIf the card you picked cannot be charged, Uber may charge any other payment method saved in your Wallet. Remove the methods you do not want used.
- AcceptedEnter the billing name and address exactly as they appear on your Halocard.
- AcceptedSet the card limit above the full amount plus the hold Uber places when you pay. The hold is for the full fare at request time, before any promotions or discounts.
Why do Uber payments decline?
- The trip is declined and Uber asks you to add another payment method
- Uber could not hold the fare on the card. Give the card room for more than the fare, then request the ride again.
- A message about an error processing your payment after a trip
- Uber says this usually means a wrong CVV or billing ZIP code. Remove the card, then add it again with the details from your Halocard dashboard.
- Two charges for the same trip
- Changing the destination can push the final fare above the first hold. Leave room above the fare on the card so the second hold goes through.
Uber payment FAQ
Why is there a pending Uber charge before my ride?
It is an authorization hold. Uber places it when you request a ride, for the full fare before promotions. When the trip ends it becomes the final charge and any unused part is released. A cancelled trip drops the hold straight away. See Uber's What is an Authorization Hold? page.
Why was my card declined on Uber?
The two causes Uber names are a fare it could not hold on the card and a wrong CVV or billing ZIP code. Leave room on the card for more than the fare, or remove the card and add it again. Uber explains the second case on Error adding a payment method.
Does Uber accept debit cards and Venmo?
Yes. Uber's help page lists credit and debit cards, PayPal, Venmo, digital wallets and Uber gift cards as methods you can add. Your account must keep at least one payment method, so add the new card before deleting an old one. See Updating a payment method on your account.
