AcceptedHalocard is accepted

Halocard is accepted at Microsoft. Microsoft accepts credit cards, debit cards and PayPal on a Microsoft account, and Microsoft gift cards can be redeemed to the account. Add the card on the Payment options page at account.microsoft.com, then set it on each Microsoft 365 or Xbox Game Pass subscription under Services & subscriptions, because renewals charge the card chosen there.

  • AcceptedTurn on recurring billing for the subscription first. Without it, Microsoft does not show Change how you pay, because the plan is already paid and ends when it expires.
  • AcceptedPay a past-due Microsoft subscription with a card or PayPal. Gift cards, subscription cards and the Microsoft account balance cannot cover it.
  • AcceptedEnter the billing name and address exactly as they appear on your Halocard.
  • AcceptedSet the card limit above the full amount, including any hold Microsoft places at checkout.

Why do Microsoft payments decline?

The card is not accepted when you add it
Check every detail, then try the postal code again with and without spaces. A card from another country needs the account's country or region changed before it can be added.
Your bank asks you to verify the payment
Some banks now require you to confirm who you are before a Microsoft payment goes through. Keep your bank and Microsoft account contact details up to date and approve the request.
A subscription is past due
Sign in to Services & subscriptions, select Pay now on the subscription, update or add a payment method, then select Next to make the payment.
PayPal payment fails
Make sure the card linked to PayPal has funds and has not expired. Microsoft only accepts PayPal accounts funded by a credit card or a confirmed bank account.

Microsoft payment FAQ

Does Microsoft accept PayPal?
Yes. You can add a PayPal account as a payment method on your Microsoft account, as long as it uses a credit card or a confirmed bank account as its funding source. Microsoft Store also offers PayPal Pay in 4 for purchases of $30 to $1,500 and Pay Monthly for $49 to $10,000, but not for one-time or recurring subscriptions.
What payment methods can I use for Xbox?
Xbox purchases and Xbox Game Pass are paid through your Microsoft account, so the same methods apply: a credit or debit card, PayPal, or a redeemed Microsoft gift card. To change the card on Game Pass, open Services & subscriptions, select Manage, then Change how you pay.
Can I pay Microsoft with a gift card?
Yes. Redeem a Microsoft gift card at redeem.microsoft.com to add it to your Microsoft account. Gift cards, subscription cards and the Microsoft account balance cannot be used to pay a past-due subscription, which needs a card or PayPal.
What is the Microsoft charge on my card?
Microsoft charges usually start MICROSOFT followed by the product, and in-app purchases can show the app's name, such as MICROSOFTCANDY CRUSH. Microsoft's article on investigating a billing charge lists the usual causes: a subscription with recurring billing, a purchase by a family member, a previously declined charge charged again, a pre-order or split order that shipped, or an in-app purchase.
How do I update my payment method for Microsoft 365?
Sign in to Services & subscriptions at account.microsoft.com, find Microsoft 365, select Manage and then Change how you pay. Pick a saved method or select Add a new way to pay. If Change how you pay is missing, recurring billing is off. A Microsoft 365 plan bought through Apple or Google Play is managed with that store instead.
