How to pay for Shopify with Halocard

Create a card for Shopify in Halocard

In your Halocard dashboard, create a new card, name it Shopify and set a limit that covers what you are about to pay.

Open Settings, then Billing, then Billing profile

In the Shopify admin, go to Settings, click Billing, then Billing profile, and click Add payment method. Saved cards cannot be edited, so add the new card first and delete the old one after.

Retry an unpaid bill with Pay bill

If a bill has already failed, go back to Settings, then Billing, and click Pay bill to charge the new card.

Tips for successful payments at Shopify

  • AcceptedYour card allows recurring charges from an international merchant. Shopify bills from Canada.
  • AcceptedA second payment method is saved. Shopify charges the backup when the primary method fails.
  • AcceptedEnter the billing name and address exactly as they appear on your Halocard.
  • AcceptedSet the card limit above the full amount, including any hold Shopify places at checkout.

Why do Shopify payments decline?

The payment fails address verification
Re-enter the billing address with the apartment number and ZIP code your card provider holds, then retry.
A "too many attempts" error
Wait 24 hours before using the card again, and check every detail before the next try.
The 3D Secure check timed out
The bill stays unpaid until the check is done. Go to Settings, then Billing, and click Pay bill to start it again.

Shopify payment FAQ

Can I pay my Shopify bill with PayPal?
Yes. PayPal can pay one-time and recurring Shopify bills, funded by your PayPal balance, bank account or a linked card. Add it under Settings, then Billing, then Billing profile, as a primary or backup method. See Available payment methods for your Shopify bills.
What is the SHOPIFY* charge on my card?
SHOPIFY* followed by nine digits is a Shopify bill. The number matches a bill listed under Settings, then Billing, in the Shopify admin. A charge shown as SP and a store name is a purchase from a shop that runs on Shopify. See Shopify's What is this charge for? page.
What happens if my Shopify bill payment fails?
If a bill is missed or a payment fails several times, the store is frozen once the due date passes. You cannot open the admin and customers cannot see the store until every outstanding bill is paid. See Frozen stores after missed bill payments.
Can I pay Shopify with Apple Pay or Google Pay?
Only when you pay for a plan on Basic, Grow or Advanced, outside India. The card in your wallet is then saved for later bills. You cannot add either wallet from billing settings, and neither works on Shopify Plus. See Available payment methods for your Shopify bills.
