Tips for successful payments at LinkedIn

  • AcceptedFor LinkedIn Ads, only the ad account's billing admin can add or change the card, and the card must be added again after the billing admin changes.
  • AcceptedExpect a temporary hold when you add a card to LinkedIn Ads. It clears on its own within 5 to 7 business days.
  • AcceptedLinkedIn Ads charges the card whenever ad spend passes your threshold, $100 for a new account, and charges any leftover balance on the first day of the next month. You may see several charges in one day.
  • AcceptedIf you hold more than one Premium purchase, link the new card to each one separately under Admin Center, then Purchases.

Why do LinkedIn payments decline?

Insufficient funds
LinkedIn says the card did not have enough to cover the charge. Raise the card's limit above the plan price plus tax and re-enter the card.
Mismatched billing zip code
Enter the billing ZIP code exactly as your card issuer has it, then save the card again.
Blocked charge
The card issuer refused the charge. Check with the issuer, then re-enter the card. LinkedIn tries the transaction again within 48 hours.
Ad account on hold after a failed charge
Ask the card issuer why the charge failed. Once it is sorted, the billing admin re-adds the card or adds another one in Campaign Manager.

LinkedIn payment FAQ

Can I pay for LinkedIn Ads with PayPal?
No. LinkedIn takes PayPal for Premium accounts and job posts on desktop, but not for advertising products. Ads are paid by credit card in Campaign Manager. See Available payment methods for online purchase.
Why is there a hold on my card after adding it to LinkedIn Ads?
LinkedIn may place a temporary hold to check the card is valid. It clears by itself within 5 to 7 business days. If it stays longer than a week, contact your bank. See Add or update your credit card information in Campaign Manager.
What happens if a LinkedIn subscription payment fails?
LinkedIn can charge another eligible payment method saved to your account, so the subscription keeps running. A declined transaction is processed again within 48 hours, and you may need to re-enter your card. See Reasons for declined payments.
