Tips for successful payments at GoDaddy

  • AcceptedAssign the card to each product under Renewals and Billing, then Manage Subscriptions. Adding a card does not move existing products onto it.
  • AcceptedTurn on Auto-Renew for the domains and hosting you want to keep, so they renew on their expiration dates.
  • AcceptedKeep a second payment method that has worked before on the account. If the assigned method cannot be charged at renewal, GoDaddy may try it instead.
  • AcceptedEnter the billing name and address exactly as they appear on your Halocard.

Why do GoDaddy payments decline?

"Oops. You missed some required information"
The account has only a trial or expired products, and GoDaddy stores a card only when you have a paid product. Add the card in the cart while you buy, upgrade or renew: next to Payment select Edit, then Add New Card.
"Yikes! We couldn't process your request"
No default currency is set on the account. Go to My Profile, select Default Currency, choose your currency and select Make Primary, then add the card again.
The card form clears or the card does not save
Re-enter the billing information, including the country and ZIP code. Check that the captcha is showing, since some ad blockers hide it, then try an incognito window or another browser.
Account locked by the Verification Office
GoDaddy may lock the account until you upload a government-issued photo ID of the payment method holder. Upload it when you sign in, or reply to the Verification Office email with a scan under 1 MB, and allow 24 to 48 hours.

GoDaddy payment FAQ

What is the DNH*GODADDY charge on my card?
Card charges from GoDaddy usually show a descriptor that starts with DNH* and includes GODADDY. Since June 2024 many also end with part of your order number. Match the date, amount and any order digits against Order History in your GoDaddy account. Adding a card without buying anything can also leave a small temporary authorization, which your bank releases.
What is GoDaddy's refund policy?
Under the policy last revised September 14, 2026, annual plans can be refunded within 30 days and monthly plans within 48 hours. New domain registrations have 5 days and one-year domain auto-renewals have 45 days. Premium domains, cloud servers and successful transfers are not refundable. GoDaddy has announced an updated policy from October 15, 2026 for customers who received its notice email.
How does GoDaddy domain renewal work?
Products set to auto-renew renew at the end of each term for a term of the same length, at GoDaddy's price at the time. GoDaddy charges the product's payment method first, then any backup method, then other methods on file. If every attempt fails, it may renew for the shortest term on sale, which then becomes the default.
Does GoDaddy accept PayPal?
Yes. Choose PayPal when you add a payment method or at checkout, and sign in to PayPal. GoDaddy then uses the payment method selected in your PayPal Wallet for future purchases and renewals, so change it inside PayPal if you want a different card charged.
What is GoDaddy Good As Gold?
Good As Gold is GoDaddy's account for paying by wire transfer. It is held in dollars (USD) only, and a purchase goes through only when its balance covers the full amount, including any fees.
