Create a card for Tim Hortons in Halocard

How to pay for Tim Hortons with Halocard

Open Account, then Payment Methods
Tap the Account icon in the top-right corner of the Tim Hortons app or website, choose Payment Methods, then Add new payment method.

Enter the card and check the billing details
Type the card number with no dashes or spaces, then check that the billing information and address are correct before you save the card.

Review the order and pick the card
Add items, tap Review order, adjust the pickup details and select Continue. Select the saved card to complete the order and wait for the order confirmation.

Turn on Scan & Pay for the counter
Select Scan, then Manage Payment Method under Scan & Pay, then Add a credit or debit card. Show the QR code at the register to pay and earn 10 points per $1.

Tips for successful payments at Tim Hortons
- AcceptedSave the card under Account, then Payment Methods, before you check out, or add it when the app asks for a payment method on your first order.
- AcceptedSet Language and Region in the app to the country you are ordering in, or restaurants show as unavailable and your balance shows in the wrong currency.
- AcceptedTo pay at the counter or drive-thru with one scan, turn on Scan & Pay and pick a saved card, because Apple Pay does not work with Scan & Pay.
- AcceptedReloads of the in-app Tim Card start at $5, the balance cannot go above $100, and one credit card can add at most $50 a week.
Why do Tim Hortons payments decline?
- Order did not go through, but a charge appeared
- Tim Hortons calls this a payment error: the pending charge should drop off within 3 to 10 business days. Update the app, delete and re-add the card with no dashes or spaces, check the billing address, then sign out and back in.
- Order error or failure message
- Close the app to clear the order and try again; Tim Hortons says failed orders are not charged. If it keeps failing, contact Tim Hortons with your account email, the restaurant, the date and time and the service mode.
- Reload not processed
- A reload is refused if it would take the Tim Card balance above $100 or goes over $50 in a week on one credit card. Reload a smaller amount.
- Account created in a different region
- Create a new Tim Hortons account with a different email address and choose the right country at sign-up. Guest Care can move Tims Rewards Points, but not gift card balances, between countries.

Does Tim Hortons take Apple Pay?
Yes, in the Tim Hortons app. If Apple Pay is set up on your phone, the app makes it your preferred payment method. Apple Pay does not work with Scan & Pay, so add a credit or debit card on the Scan page to pay at the counter or drive-thru with one scan.
Does Tim Hortons take Google Pay or PayPal?
Not in the app. Tim Hortons' Apple Pay and Google Pay help article says Google Pay, Samsung Pay, Amazon Pay and PayPal are not supported, and its app FAQ says Android Pay is not supported. Save a Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover card instead.
Can I pay for a Tim Hortons mobile order with cash?
No. Mobile orders in the Tim Hortons app cannot be paid in cash. Cash works when you order at the counter or drive-thru, along with Scan & Pay, a credit or debit card or a physical Tim Card.
Does Scan & Pay work at every Tim Hortons?
Most restaurants accept Scan & Pay, but not all, and it does not work on kiosks. Where it is not accepted, scan for Tims Rewards and pay separately. Scan & Pay takes Visa Credit, Visa Debit, Mastercard Credit, American Express, Discover Credit and the Tim Card.
Can I pay with a Tim Hortons gift card?
Yes. The Tim Card, also called the Tims Gift Card, pays for mobile orders in the app and at participating restaurants. You can move a plastic card's balance into the app from Scan to Pay, and the in-app balance cannot go above $100.
