How to pay for DoorDash with Halocard

01

Create a card for DoorDash in Halocard

In your Halocard dashboard, create a new card, name it DoorDash and set a limit that covers what you are about to pay.

02

Add the card under Settings, then Payment

In the DoorDash app, open the Me tab, go to Settings, then Payment, and choose Add Payment Method, then Credit/Debit Card. Enter the card number, CVC, expiration date and billing ZIP code, then save. On doordash.com, select Account, then Payment.

03

Make it your default card

If more than one card is on the account, tap the card you want to use so a checkmark appears next to it. That card becomes the default for your orders.

Tips for successful payments at DoorDash

  • AcceptedAdd the new card before you remove an old one. DoorDash makes you add a card before deleting the one it replaces, and the last card used stays the default.
  • AcceptedDoorDash may combine orders placed close together into one charge, so leave room on the card for the combined total, or change it under Me, then Settings, then Payment, then Payment frequency.
  • AcceptedAn HSA or FSA card covers only eligible health items. Select Use card at checkout and keep a default card on the account for tips, fees and the rest of the order.
  • AcceptedTo keep an order on the card you picked, turn off backup payments in your payment settings. Otherwise a failed payment is retried on your next most used method.

Why do DoorDash payments decline?

Your default payment method failed
DoorDash retries the order on your next most used saved method and tells you in the app. To move the charge to the card you want, change the payment method on the order's receipt page within 3 hours.
Both your default and backup payment methods failed
Follow the instructions DoorDash sends in the app to update your payment details or choose another payment method.
Your DashPass renewal could not be charged
Keep your billing details up to date. DoorDash may charge another payment method on file, and can suspend or cancel DashPass while the fee is unpaid.

DoorDash payment FAQ

Does DoorDash take cash?
Not on orders placed in the DoorDash app or on doordash.com. DoorDash says cash is accepted only on select DoorDash Drive orders, which are a restaurant's own orders that a Dasher delivers, and not on DoorDash Marketplace orders. Pay with a card, PayPal, Venmo, Cash App or another saved method instead.
Does DoorDash accept EBT?
Yes, for eligible food items. Add the card under Account, then Payment, then Program Cards, and choose SNAP/EBT Card, or add it at checkout. Item eligibility follows USDA rules. A credit or debit card must also be on the account to pay fees, taxes, tips and anything SNAP does not cover.
Does DoorDash take PayPal or Venmo?
Yes. DoorDash lists PayPal, Venmo and Cash App with credit and debit cards as valid payment methods, and any of them can serve as a backup method. Orders paid with PayPal, Venmo or Cash App are charged one at a time rather than combined into a single charge.
Can I pay later on DoorDash?
Yes, with Klarna at checkout in the app or on doordash.com. Klarna offers pay in full, pay in four interest-free installments, or pay later on a date such as your next payday. DoorDash says it covers groceries, retail and even the DashPass Annual Plan.
Does DoorDash accept Apple Pay?
Yes. DoorDash help pages describe paying through third-party wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay, and its rewards card earns cash back when used in Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal. Some card-linked offers, such as DashPass for Chase cardmembers, do not apply when you pay through a wallet.
