Add the card in My eBay, then Payments
Go to Payments in My eBay, select Add payment option, enter the card number, expiry, security code and billing address, then select Save.

Choose Credit or debit card at checkout
On the checkout page, select Credit or debit card and pick the saved card, or enter its details. Select Remember this card for future orders to keep it for next time.

Review the order and select Confirm and pay
Check the order details and shipping address, then select Confirm and pay. The seller never sees your card details.

Tips for successful payments at eBay
- AcceptedAdd the card before you bid or make a Best Offer. eBay charges it as soon as you win or the seller accepts, even if you removed the card since.
- AcceptedTurn on a backup payment method in My eBay, so eBay can complete the order with it if your chosen method does not go through.
- AcceptedOn purchases of $500 or more priced in dollars, you can split the payment between two saved credit or debit cards with the Split payment between two cards toggle.
- AcceptedPay within 4 calendar days of winning or buying, or the seller can cancel the order and record it as unpaid.
Why do eBay payments decline?
- Card details or billing address do not match
- Check the card number, expiry date and security code, and enter the name and billing address exactly as they appear on the card statement. Edit a saved card under Payments in My eBay.
- Not enough available credit for the order
- eBay says a payment may be declined when the card cannot cover the full order or a daily transaction cap is reached. Check the card covers the total with shipping and tax, then pay again.
- Paying with an American Express card
- American Express is not accepted on eBay. Choose a Visa, Mastercard or Discover card, or another method shown at checkout.
- An error message appears at checkout
- Try checking out on another device or browser, switching between the eBay app and the website, or signing out, clearing cache and cookies and signing in again.
eBay payment FAQ
Does eBay take Apple Pay and Google Pay?
Yes. eBay's payment methods policy lists Apple Pay and Google Pay among the methods offered at checkout on eBay.com, along with cards, PayPal, Venmo and Klarna. You can't use Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal to split one payment between two cards.
Does eBay accept PayPal and Venmo?
Yes. PayPal, PayPal Credit and Venmo are all on eBay's list of payment methods offered at checkout on eBay.com. Each listing shows the methods that item accepts in its Shipping and Payments section.
Can I use Klarna or Afterpay on eBay?
Klarna, yes. It is offered on most eBay.com orders between $35 and $30,000, as Pay in 4 or Klarna Financing. It is not offered on gift cards, coins and bullion, or items shipping from abroad. Afterpay is not on eBay's list of payment methods.
Does eBay accept credit cards?
Yes. Most listings take Visa, Mastercard and Discover credit and debit cards, and you can save a card for future orders. American Express is not accepted on eBay. eBay secures the card and does not share its details with the seller.
What is an EBAY O* charge or pending payment on my card?
eBay purchases usually show as EBAY O* followed by the order number. Search that number in your Purchase History to find the item. An order from several sellers can show duplicate pending authorizations; these are not charges and usually drop off within a week.
