What is Halocard?

A US-issued Visa credit card that works like a debit card, with a separate virtual card for each merchant you pay. Set a spending limit, lock a card or cancel it from the dashboard at any time.

It cannot be used at Xoom, but works wherever Visa is accepted outside the high-risk categories that are unsupported.

Why Halocard cannot be used at Xoom

Xoom is charged under the money transfers category, which Visa and our issuing bank classify as high-risk, so Halocard declines payments to it on every card. This is a Halocard rule, not a Xoom rule.

What you can do instead

Pay from a bank account in the currency you send.
Log in with PayPal and use your PayPal balance or a linked bank or card.
Use a debit or credit card from another bank, issued in the currency you send.

Tips for successful payments at Xoom

What payment methods does Xoom accept?

Xoom accepts a bank account, a debit or credit card, and the payment methods in your PayPal account. A card must be issued in the currency you send. Some users with linked Xoom and PayPal Balance accounts can also pay with PayPal USD (PYUSD).

Can I pay for Xoom with a credit card?

Yes. Xoom takes credit and debit cards issued in the currency you send. Your card issuer may charge a cash advance fee on top of Xoom's own fee when you pay with a credit card.

Can I pay Xoom with PayPal?

Yes. Log in with PayPal and Xoom shows the cards, bank accounts and PayPal balance linked to your PayPal account. Your PayPal balance appears as an option when it covers the whole transfer, fee included.

Why was my card declined on Xoom?

Common causes are wrong card details, too little money or credit, a card type Xoom does not take, or a decline by your card company. Xoom's card declined article lists them, and your card company can confirm its own decision.

What does a Xoom payment look like on my bank statement?

For a payment from a bank account, Xoom's help page tells you to look for XOOM under the Description column of your bank statement.
