Create a card for PayPal in Halocard
In your Halocard dashboard, create a new card, name it PayPal and set a limit that covers what you are about to pay.

Halocard has limited acceptance at PayPal. PayPal lets you link a credit or debit card in your Wallet and use it to pay businesses for goods and services. Halocard pays only for goods and services bought from businesses through PayPal.

Link the card in your PayPal Wallet
On the web, go to Wallet and click Link a debit or credit card. In the app, go to Accounts. Enter the Halocard number, expiry date, security code and billing address.

Pick the Halocard when you pay
At a PayPal checkout, choose the Halocard from your payment methods, or click Manage to switch. You can also set it as your preferred method for online, in-store or automatic payments.

Send money as a goods and services payment
When paying a seller from Send, choose Paying for an item or service. This payment type is covered by PayPal Purchase Protection when eligible.

Tips for successful payments at PayPal
- AcceptedYou choose Paying for an item or service when you send money, not Sending to a friend.
- AcceptedYour PayPal account has room for another card: 4 while unverified, up to 24 once verified.
- AcceptedThe card is not linked to another PayPal account. A card can be on only one account at a time.
- AcceptedFor an automatic payment, you set the card as the preferred method for that seller. Your balance may still pay first.
Why do PayPal payments decline?
- Different billing address
- PayPal needs the billing address exactly as the card issuer has it. Copy the address from your Halocard dashboard, including the ZIP code, and link the card again.
- Authorization charge declined
- PayPal checks a new card with a $1 authorization. Make sure the Halocard is active and its limit covers at least $1, then add it again.
- Card linked to another PayPal account
- A card can be linked to only one PayPal account at a time. Remove it from the other account first, or create a new Halocard for this account.
- Wrong CSC code entered 3 times
- PayPal locks linking after three wrong security codes. Contact PayPal to finish linking the card.
PayPal payment FAQ
Does PayPal have its own virtual card?
PayPal's About Payment Methods page lists your PayPal balance, a bank account, PayPal Credit, debit or credit cards and rewards balance. A virtual card of its own is not on that list. A Halocard can fill that gap: link it as the credit card in your Wallet and pay sellers with it.
Can I pay friends and family on PayPal with a credit card?
PayPal allows it with a fee, as its friends and family or goods and services article explains. Personal payments are free only from your PayPal balance or bank account. With a Halocard the payment will not go through, because a personal payment is a money transfer.
Is there a fee to pay for goods and services with a card on PayPal?
Not for the buyer. On a goods and services payment the seller pays PayPal's fee, and PayPal says it charges no cash advance fee when a debit or credit card pays for goods or services. See Do I get charged a cash advance fee.
Can I add money to PayPal with a credit card?
No. PayPal's add money article lists a Visa or Mastercard debit card or a confirmed bank account. A Halocard is a credit card, and it is better used to pay the seller directly at checkout.
