Not acceptedHalocard is not accepted

Halocard is not accepted at Wise. Wise is charged under the money transfers category, which Visa classifies as high-risk, so Halocard declines payments to it on every card. This is a Halocard rule, not a Wise rule. Wise takes Visa and Mastercard cards with 3D Secure, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and ACH or wire payments. Card payments for a transfer carry merchant code 4829 or 6012, which some banks charge as a cash advance. The money must come from a card or account in your own name.

Why Halocard cannot be used at Wise

Wise is charged under the money transfers category, which Visa classifies as high-risk, so Halocard declines payments to it on every card. This is a Halocard rule, not a Wise rule. Wise charges card payments for a transfer under code 4829 or 6012, and Halocard also blocks payments to financial institutions (6012).

What you can do instead

  • Pay with your connected bank account (ACH), which Wise recommends over a manual ACH payment.
  • Send an ACH payment or wire from your own bank to Wise's account details.
  • Pay for the transfer with money already held in your Wise account.

Tips for successful payments at Wise

  • AcceptedPay from a card or bank account in your own name. Wise only accepts money from an account whose holder matches your Wise profile.
  • AcceptedFor a Wise Business transfer, pay with your business card or business bank account, not a personal one.
  • AcceptedUse Apple Pay in the Wise iOS app or on the website in Safari, and Google Pay in the Wise Android app version 3.13.1 or later.
  • AcceptedPay with a card in the same currency you are sending from, so your bank does not convert the payment at its own rate.

Wise payment FAQ

Can I pay for a Wise transfer with a credit card?
Yes, for most currencies. Wise accepts Visa and Mastercard credit cards, but paying by credit or business card costs more than a consumer debit card. Wise codes card payments as 4829 or 6012, so some card issuers add their own cash advance fee.
Does Wise accept prepaid cards?
Many of them. Wise says it accepts many prepaid cards that have a 16-digit number, an expiry date and 3D Secure, but not every prepaid card has those features, so check your card first.
Can I use Apple Pay or Google Pay on Wise?
Yes, at the payment step. Apple Pay works in the Wise iOS app or in Safari, and Google Pay in the Wise Android app. For USD profiles the limit is 2,000 USD per day and 8,000 USD per week in licensed states, and neither wallet is offered to profiles registered in Nevada or a territory.
Why did my bank charge a cash advance fee on a Wise payment?
Wise passes merchant category code 4829 or 6012 to your bank with every card payment for a transfer. Some banks treat those codes as a cash advance and add a fee. Wise does not control this, so ask your bank how it charges these codes.
How do I add money to my Wise account?
From Home, select Add money, or pick a currency and select Add. Enter the amount, choose a payment method and continue to payment. You can also send money from your own bank to your Wise account details.
