Tips for successful payments at Verizon

  • AcceptedPay in My Verizon, in a Verizon store or by dialing #PMT. Verizon adds a $10 Agent Assistance Fee when Customer Service takes the payment.
  • AcceptedOnly the Account Owner or an Account Manager can set up Auto Pay. Make the person paying an Account Manager so they can pay their part of the bill.
  • AcceptedWhen paying ahead of the bill by card, keep the payment within $500 of the balance due.
  • AcceptedAvoid a one-time payment while an Auto Pay payment is already in process, or the bill may be paid twice.

Why do Verizon payments decline?

Auto Pay payment rejected by the card issuer
Verizon can charge a returned item fee and remove the account from Auto Pay. Pay the balance as a one-time payment in My Verizon, then set up Auto Pay again.
"Do not send personal check"
Verizon limits payment options after a returned payment. Pay by credit or debit card, cashier's or certified check, or cash in person until the message leaves your bill.
Payment made while the account has a credit balance
Verizon may reject, reverse or return the whole payment. Check the balance in My Verizon before paying ahead.
Saved card details cannot be edited
Card numbers cannot be changed in My Verizon. Remove the old card on the payment method page, select Save, then add the new card. Changes can take up to 15 minutes to show.
