Halocard is not accepted at MoneyGram, which charges under money transfers, a high-risk category Halocard doesn't support. Why Halocard cannot be used at MoneyGram

Why it isn't supported

MoneyGram is charged under the money transfers category, which Visa and our issuing bank classify as high-risk, so Halocard declines payments to it on every card. This is a Halocard rule, not a MoneyGram rule.

  • Use a Visa or Mastercard debit card from your bank, or Apple Pay in the MoneyGram app on an iPhone.
  • Start the transfer online, choose Cash at a location and pay in cash at a MoneyGram location within 24 hours.

Yes. MoneyGram takes Visa and Mastercard credit cards for transfers on its website and in its app. Its fees are slightly higher when you pay by credit card, and your card company may add a cash advance fee and interest charges. MoneyGram's own blog says a debit card is often the more cost-effective choice.
How do I pay a bill with MoneyGram?
Log in on the website, or open the app and choose Send, then Pay a Bill. Search for the biller by company name or receive code, enter the amount and your account number, then pay with a credit or debit card. Online bill payments take Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Diners Club International and UnionPay, up to $3,000 every 30 calendar days. Bills can also be paid with cash at a MoneyGram location.
How much money can I send with MoneyGram online?
It depends on the transfer. MoneyGram says limits vary with the payment method, the send and receive countries and the receive method, and your bank or card provider may set its own. It also caps how many transfers you can complete each day, week, month and year. Log in and start a transfer or estimate fees to see your limit.
Does MoneyGram accept Apple Pay?

How much does MoneyGram charge to send money?
Fees vary with where you send, how much, and the payment and receive method you choose, and they are slightly higher with a credit card.
