Tips for successful payments at JailATM

  • AcceptedAdd a Social Security number to your JailATM account before your first deposit. JailATM requires it under the Bank Secrecy Act.
  • AcceptedKeep deposits to one resident within $300 per calendar week, Sunday to Saturday, counting every sender. Some facilities set a different limit.
  • AcceptedSave the card under My Account, Settings, Payment Methods, New, and tick the messaging subscription box if it should also pay for messages.
  • AcceptedMake deposits from a computer. JailATM says its website is built for desktop browsers and mobile devices can run into issues.

Why do JailATM payments decline?

"Payer Authentication has failed"
The card's 3D Secure check (Visa Secure or Mastercard Identity Check) did not pass. Complete the one-time code or security page your browser opens during checkout, then try the deposit again.
"Payer Authentication was unable to complete"
The card issuer asked for its security page but the page did not open. Contact the card issuer about its 3D Secure page, then try again.
The card does not allow cash advance transactions
JailATM processes every deposit as a cash advance transaction. Call the number on the back of the card to check it supports that transaction type.
Invalid card
Use a Visa or Mastercard card. JailATM supports only the cards on its accepted payment methods list.

JailATM payment FAQ

What should I do if JailATM declines or doesn't support my card?
Pay with a Halocard instead. JailATM accepts it, and as a US-issued Visa credit card held in US dollars it is accepted at checkouts that are strict about card type or country. Halocard is available for customers in the US and 120+ countries, so check that your country is supported, then make a card for JailATM in minutes. See the countries Halocard supports.
Can I use a virtual card for JailATM?
Yes. JailATM accepts Halocard, a US-issued Visa credit card that works like a debit card. Make a card just for JailATM and you are in full control: set a limit, lock it or cancel it whenever you like, without ever handing JailATM your bank card.
Can I keep my real card and address private from JailATM?
Yes. JailATM only ever sees your Halocard, never your bank card. You choose the cardholder name and billing address on each card, so your home address stays out of JailATM's records. If JailATM is ever caught up in a data breach, cancel that one card and make a new one in seconds.
How do I make a deposit on JailATM?
Sign in at jailatm.com, select Send Money Now, choose the state and facility, and search for the resident by last name or ID. Enter your card and the amount, accept the terms, review the total and select Send Money. Most deposits reach the resident within 24 to 48 hours.
What is the JailATM customer service phone number?
JailATM customer support for online deposits is 1-877-810-0914. JailATM support also takes requests through the contact forms on its support site. Do not type a full card number into those forms; tickets that include one are deleted.
What is a JailATM commissary allowance?
A commissary allowance gives a resident money to spend on commissary without making a deposit. When the resident orders commissary, the allowance is used before their own balance, and only the amount they use is charged to your card. JailATM does not tell the resident about the allowance, so let them know yourself.
How does JailATM messaging work?
Messaging needs a messaging subscription. Turning it on adds $5.00 of credits to your account, and each message you send uses some of them. When credits run low, JailATM asks you to buy $5, $10 or $20 more with the card you chose for the subscription. Messaging credit is not refunded.
Can I get a refund from JailATM?
JailATM treats deposits as final, and its terms rule out refunds for email, video visitation and gift pack purchases outside a few states. If a deposit was applied twice, call the facility at once and ask the officer to hold and refund it. A deposit the resident has already spent cannot be refunded.
