Crypto.com Card review

Best for people who hold crypto on Crypto.com

The Crypto.com Card is the Visa card from the Crypto.com crypto app, a prepaid card with no credit check or a Visa Signature credit card in the US, with rewards in CRO or BTC that depend on a Level Up subscription or a CRO lockup, and a good fit for US residents who already hold crypto there.

Its prepaid card holds US dollars, is issued by Community Federal Savings Bank and takes one card per person. Its Basic tier is free, Plus costs $4.99 a month and Pro $29.99, with Pro rewards of 4.5% on the credit card and 2.5% on the prepaid card, and most tiers pay 3% on foreign purchases. Crypto.com Card FAQ

Is the Crypto.com Card legit?

Yes, in the sense that it is issued by named, regulated US banks: the prepaid card by Community Federal Savings Bank, Member FDIC, and the Visa Signature credit card by Comenity Capital Bank. Crypto.com's US business, Foris DAX, Inc., is a registered money services business. Customer service is the weak spot: Crypto.com is rated 2.0/5 on Trustpilot from 9,481 reviews, a profile that covers the whole platform, and recent reviewers describe long waits for a person in chat.

What is the Crypto.com Card?

It is the Visa card from Crypto.com, the crypto app and exchange. In the US it comes in two forms: a prepaid Visa card, which needs no credit check, and a Visa Signature credit card, which needs a credit check and approval. Rewards are paid in CRO, or in CRO or BTC on the credit card, according to your Level Up tier, and both cards are applied for and managed in the Crypto.com mobile app.

What fees does the Crypto.com Card charge?

The Basic Level Up tier is free, Plus is $4.99 a month or $49.90 a year, and Pro is $29.99 a month or $299.90 a year; each can be unlocked with a 12-month CRO lockup instead, $500 for Plus and $5,000 for Pro, and the Private tiers need $50,000 or more. The credit card has no annual fee. Other costs on the prepaid card are 3% on foreign purchases on most tiers, 1% by debit card, 2.99% by credit card and 2.1% by PayPal to load, 2% on ATM cash above the free allowance, a physical card at $4.99 on Midnight Blue and $29.99 on Ruby Steel, and $5.95 a month after 12 months without activity. The credit card's APR is 17.49% to 31.49%, with late fees of up to $41.

Does the Crypto.com Card require a credit check?

Not the prepaid card, which is Crypto.com's base card. The Visa Signature credit card needs a credit check and approval, though its prequalification check is a soft inquiry that does not affect your credit score.

Who issues the Crypto.com Card?

The prepaid card is issued by Community Federal Savings Bank, Member FDIC, with Foris, Inc. as its program manager. The Visa Signature credit card is issued by Comenity Capital Bank. Halocard cards are issued by Third National, a Non-Bank Principal Member of the Visa Network.

How do Crypto.com Card rewards work?

Rewards depend on your Level Up tier. The credit card pays 1.5% on Basic, 3.5% on Plus, 4.5% on Pro and up to 6% on the Private tiers, in CRO or in BTC, which is capped each month at a tier-based amount, $250 on Basic, and pays less above it. The prepaid card pays nothing on Basic, 1.5% on the first $750 a month on Plus and 2.5% on the first $1,500 on Pro. Rewards are paid in tokens at the market price when you spend, and Crypto.com's terms say they may change at any time.

Does the Crypto.com Card hold crypto?

No. Its cardholder agreement says only US dollars are held on the prepaid card and that no cryptocurrency debits, credits or balances take place on it, so crypto is converted to dollars before it is loaded.

How do you fund the Crypto.com Card?

You top up the prepaid card in the Crypto.com app from your crypto, your USD account, another debit or credit card, or PayPal, and its cardholder agreement lists 1% by debit card, 2.99% by credit card and 2.1% by PayPal. Its USD account takes ACH, wires and payroll direct deposit. You pay the credit card's balance from the app. Halocard takes debit/credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfer, stablecoins, or crypto.

Does the Crypto.com Card work with Apple Pay and Google Pay?

Yes. Crypto.com's help centre says US-issued virtual cards can be added to Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay, while point-of-sale and ATM use needs the physical card. Every Halocard can be added to Apple Pay and Google Pay too, and both can fund your Halocard balance.

What are the Crypto.com Card ATM fees?

ATM withdrawals on the prepaid card are free up to $200 a month on Midnight Blue, with a higher free allowance on higher tiers, then cost 2%. Monthly ATM withdrawal caps apply by tier.

Is the Crypto.com Card a prepaid card or a credit card?

Both exist in the US. The prepaid Visa card holds US dollars and its cardholder agreement says it is not a credit card; the Visa Signature card is a credit card. Halocard is a US-issued Visa credit card for customers in the US and 120+ countries. Halocard works like a debit card: you spend the balance you load, with no credit line and no credit check.

Can you use the Crypto.com Card outside the US?

The US prepaid card asks for a US mailing address, and the credit card is available only to US users. Crypto.com lists separate fees and limits for Australia, Singapore, the UK, Europe and Bahrain and select GCC markets, so its cards differ by region. A US card charges 3% on foreign purchases on most tiers. Halocard is a US-issued Visa credit card for customers in the US and 120+ countries.

How many Crypto.com Cards can you have?

One. Crypto.com's help centre says it issues one card per person, and its cardholder agreement does not allow secondary cards.

What is the Crypto.com One-Time Card?

A separate feature in the Crypto.com app: a virtual card for one purchase at a listed online retailer, available to US app users and paid from your crypto. Its help centre says it works for a single purchase, closes after 14 days, is not meant for subscriptions and can't be added to Apple Pay or Google Pay.
