What Airwallex reviewers report

Rated 2.8/5 on Trustpilot from 2,582 reviews. The most common complaints:

Support that doesn't answer

Users report template replies to specific questions and a card phone line that plays a recorded message.

Very poor customer support.

“When I call the number on the back of the card, it's just a recorded message telling me to email them.”

Trustpilot review, 21 September 2026

Awful customer service

“No matter what you write or how clearly you explain the situation, you seem to get the same generic template responses back. It genuinely feels like nobody actually reads what you have written.”

It is rated 2.8/5 on Trustpilot from 2,582 reviews.

Is Airwallex a bank?

No. Airwallex says it is not a bank and partners with banks to offer its services. In the US those are Evolve Bank & Trust for accounts and Community Federal Savings Bank for cards.

Is my money safe with Airwallex?

Airwallex says US customers' funds at Evolve Bank & Trust are held in an omnibus account for their benefit and are eligible for FDIC pass-through insurance up to $250,000, subject to the FDIC's requirements. Money placed in its Yield product is an investment and is not FDIC-insured.

Can individuals open an Airwallex account?

No. Airwallex's help centre says its services are designed for businesses and that it can't offer personal accounts to individuals. In the US, sole proprietors count as businesses and can apply with a Social Security number.

Who can open an Airwallex account?

Businesses registered in one of 69 countries, each served by a local Airwallex company. The US account is for a legal entity or sole proprietorship in the United States, and asks for an EIN, proof of business formation and a government ID.

What is the Airwallex corporate card?

A Visa business debit card that spends the balance of your Airwallex account. Company cards are virtual and can be shared by up to three people; employee cards can be virtual or physical. In the US they are issued by Community Federal Savings Bank.

How does Airwallex pricing work?

Explore is free and covers up to 10 spend users, Grow is $12 per user a month plus a platform fee that depends on team size, and Accelerate is priced on request. Cards are free to create. Its fee schedule charges $15 for an incoming US Fedwire and $15 to $25 for a SWIFT transfer, and conversion costs 0.5% above the interbank rate on major currencies and 1.0% on others.

Does Airwallex charge foreign transaction fees?

Not on its corporate card. A purchase in a currency you hold comes out of that balance; one in a currency you don't hold is converted from your primary balance at the prevailing rate plus a conversion fee.

Does Airwallex really pay 2% cashback?

Airwallex's cards page headlines 2% cashback with no cap. The promotion terms it links say up to 1.5%, for new US customers, on US-dollar purchases at US merchants in a month when you spend at least $2,000, and that the promotion ends on 31 December 2026. Check the terms that apply to your account before counting on a rate.

Yes, for employee cards: Airwallex says cardholders can add them to Apple Pay and Google Pay. Company cards are virtual only.

Does Airwallex run a credit check?

Not for its corporate card. Its cards page lists no credit check and no personal guarantee, because the card is funded from your own balance.

How do I contact Airwallex support?

Through its help centre, by email, or in the app, where support starts with an AI assistant. A dedicated account manager comes with its Accelerate plan. It lists no support phone line.
